You will notice I edited your post to provide a title. I'm glad you were able to do a post, and hope the registration part wasn't too tough. I have just figured out that it is possible to add comments to an existing post by opening that post individually, that is, by clicking on the title, so there has to be a title.
I think it's a little bug that the comments icon isn't showing up on all the posts on the main page, but at least we know the comments function does indeed work!
All of the editing functions, bold, italic, links, so forth seem to work just fine in the create post, but I don't see them here for comments - I'll figure that one out. To make a link, you first type the words you want to make link, then highlight them and click on th sort of heart-shaped link button in the toolbar, and paste in the url to the story etc.
It appears that comments can't be edited once they are posted, even by me. I really don't like that at all, will see if that's a bug too or if that's how they all work. I'm always going back to fix typos after I have posted - that's what the PREVIEW button below is for now, though, I guess.
I spend a lot of time reading news items, as well as forum posts and blogs around the internet, mostly related to politics and the news media.
I post on a variety of sites and decided to agglomerate some posts here on my own little lumpy spot, along with some that don't appear anywhere else - for example, responding to stories on websites without a convenient place to post commentary in response to a particular story.
A non-fan on one forum has taken to referring to me as the Comma Doctor. I'm so taken with that name that I took it.
